Apostle Webb confessed Jesus Christ at the age of seven years old.  He was called into the Ministry in August 1992 and confessed his calling on February 21, 1993.  He ministered his first message on March 21, 1993 and was licensed on April 4, 1993 and ordained March 27, 1994.  He received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in February 1993.

During the time of his calling, he spent countless hours studying the Word of God and being before the Lord.

On March 30, 2014, Apostle Webb received a Word from God, given by Prophet Sherman Burns, that He had given Pastor Webb a promotion; as Chief Apostle in accordance with 2 Corinthians 12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.  Now he is carrying the title of Apostle.

Apostle Webb founded Haughton Full Gospel Baptist Church on March 14, 1996.  One year later, the name was changed to Word of Light Christian Center.

After foundering the Church, Apostle Webb received his most challenging word from God and he had to obey, by faith. The word from God was to leave his job and depend on Him. In April 1996 the Lord instructed him to go into ministry full time. At that time Apostle Webb only had eight (8) women and eight (8) children as members of the church. He had been working at Calumet Lubricants for twenty-four years and was an oil processor operator. At that time, he was earning $1,000 a week and was only forty-eight years old (ineligible to retire), so he had to quit and obey God. The Friday before the first Sunday in June 1996, he was truly walking by faith in God. He had financial obligations and additional responsibilities when they entered the present building.

Apostle Webb and First Lady, Janice L. Webb, believed faith walking would be challenging enough, when in August 1999, God placed it on Sister Webb's heart to leave her job also, after working at Northwest State School for fifteen years. The Lord meant for them to totally depend on Him for everything they needed and desired. They have been walking by faith and not by sight every since.

The Lord placed it on Apostle Webb's heart to founder Alonzo A. Webb, Sr. Ministries on January 20, 2002 to obtain partners to assist him in spreading the Word of God by ways of Radio, Television, Internet and travel as opportunity permits.  Since then, God has blessed him with partners to fulfill His (God's) purpose.

Apostle Webb teaches the uncompromised Word of God with an anointing that cannot be denied.  He's laid hands on the sick and they were healed.  Many others have been filled with the Holy Ghost.

He served as an instructor at the Word of Faith Bible College and has ministered the Word of God at several churches.

Word of Light Christian Center and Alonzo A. Webb, Sr. Ministries were founded on faith and is the means of their existence today.

Apostle Webb believes if you will walk by Faith and not by sight and be a doer of the Word of God, you will prosper and have good success in your life.
